So That's What I Look Like....

Autumn drew a picture of me, and I laugh every time I see it, so I thought, why not let everyone else laugh at me too?  For your enjoyment I present.....Me.

How Poetic

Another Autumn post, so forgive me, but she wrote a poem and even included a drawing.

Make My Day

I got a call the other day from Ninny, and while the connection was bad, I got the idea of what she was wanting...and I was filled with a combination of fear and absolute joy.  You see, she told me that she went to let Sir Pete out the front door of her house, and there stretched out behind her car on the concrete was a 4-6 ft snake of some nefarious variety eviling (that's not a word so don't bother looking it up) its way north either to her trees or to Tom's lot.  I was thinking she would ask me to come over and check it out after work, but instead, her question was where she could buy a shotgun.  Oh yeah, Ninny's packin' heat! Or at least she's in the process.  Since the connection was bad when she called me, she then called Arlan who, with a straight face, absorbed the harrowing tale of the snake and told her where the gun shop in Burington was and gave her some suggestions.

I talked to her later and the shotgun she was wanting was already sold, but she and the owner of the store had found another that would work.  She was quite taken by the pistol that shoots shotgun shells, but at $500 she thought that was a bit much.  She said that on her way out she was quite taken with a rifle and asked him what that one was.  It's an AK-47, he replied.  She's not getting that one either but man, think of the possibilities!

Narciwhaaaat?

We were eating lunch today, and Autumn started her, "I'm so awesome!" routine.  I told her, Numero Uno, only God is awesome, and Dos, it reeks of narcissism.  Instead of just asking me what that meant, she asks, "Is that a sickness you get when you swallow a Smurf shooting a Nerf gun?"  And so goes our battle with "The Autumn."

As The Rodent Turns

Some time ago Autumn just HAD to have a cat.  It was the ONLY thing that would make her happy.  You have to feed it.  I will.  You have to change the litter box.  Oh, I will.  It's a lot of responsibility.  I know.

Autumn is now willing to trade the cat, Snowball in case you didn't know, for a hamster.  She actually has a list of coveted items with a cell phone holding the number one spot, followed by a laptop at a close number two, and a hamster squeaking it at number three.  Oh yes, I went there...  The cell phone is out because I'm a tyrant and she can have one when she is able to pay for one, the laptop is a no-go because it will not benefit her and she needs to read more than she needs to play 13th Skull, so here we are at the hamster.  Maybe we'll get her one, maybe we wont.  The point of all this is another one of her persuasive papers trying to reason, wait...let me put that in quotes, "reason" with us and convince us she needs a hamster.  I feel the work speaks for itself.

The Artist

Molly always says she wants to be an artist.  The funny thing is, she seems to be good at math which may come in handy if she does become an artist because it will take some creative accounting to make a living on an artists's wages.  Anyhoo, while I was in class last week, Michele sent me a picture of Molly's lastest idea.  She wanted to decorate the door to her room and, all by herself, came up with the idea to draw on an old sheet and hang it on her door.  Autumn decided to copy her idea and will no doubt attempt to charge money to come see it.  Aunt Jaime would approve.

American Idol

Autumn is fond of communicating through the written word, and I completely understand.  We often find requests folded (not so) neatly and laying on our pillow or on the nightstand.  This one was two parts, and had an explanation on the first page about how to respond to the request on the second page.  A "cutie" is one of those tiny oranges, so she is saying if we agree to the stuff on the second page, to leave a cutie on her bookshelf and if we don't, then don't leave one.  The second page is the ad for the singing contest.  What always cracks me up about Autumn's stuff, is it's never free, there is always some charge to get in.

It is encouraging to see her use her mischievous little mind for something other than laying a trap for Molly or manipulating her siblings into taking part in some naughtiness.  The money hungry aspect of her personality should endear her to Aunt Jaime who really would take candy from a baby if she thought she could sell it at a profit.

Dr. Scary (A Vampire's Tale)

Below you'll see the advertisement Autumn made for her play.  It was a harrowing, dark tale of a vampire, Dr. Scary, that used her position as a physician to lure unsuspecting victims, in this instance Molly, to her lair.  It was actually quite clever, for critters drawing from my gene pool anyway.  It opened with Molly in a doctor's chair and Autumn wielding a syringe of sinister blue liquid saying to herself and the crowd, "Time for more flavoring, I mean, medicine."  She then sent Molly to another part of the room where she saw a to-do list with "eat girl" as the first item.  Suitably concerned, Molly came back to the examining room where, as I recall, the whole thing devolved into chaos.  Afterwards, Autumn explained to me that she had to charge money for the play to cover the time she had spent "training" Molly.  Good times.

Home Alone

Some gratuitous goofball shots of Ella and Nash.  I kept telling him it was a SpiderGIRL suit, but he would not be denied his moment of glory.

Hello..Hello..Is this thing on?

Okay, so I'm kinda tired of maintaining my home "blogging" setup, even though there is very little maintenance involved. In the interest of facilitating more open communication between our little family pods, and so the unreliability of our home internet connection will be removed from the equation, I'll try this new-fangled setup. I don't write as purty as y'all, and you may eventually tire of the banality of the information presented, but I hope it helps you feel more connected to your extended(ing) family. Here's to posts no one will ever read!
